ELEMENTAL BALANCE:AYURVEDA AND YOGIC LIFESTYLE
JULY 15 & 16, AUGUST 12 & 13

Overview: Learn to harmonize with your innate elemental balance. Explore the foundations of the ancient system of Ayurveda and its relationship to a yogic lifestyle. Learn how to apply Ayurvedic principles to your life, yoga teaching and personal practice. Experience the rich benefits of health and balance! This is a 60 hour training which can contribute towards 700 hour (not 500 hour) Shambhava yoga certification or continuing education with Yoga Alliance.

Pre-requisite: 200 hour certification

Schedule: 2 Weekends July 15 and 16 , August 12 and 13 7:30-6:30. 2 Thursday nights July 27 and August 10 5:00-8:30.

Alissa Page RYT500, Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist (CAS) Level 3 Jyotishacharya
Alissa began studying Ayurveda at the California College of Ayurveda in 2013 after completing her RYT500 with Shambhava Yoga in 2012. It was the Ayurveda and Yogic Lifestyle Training here at Om Ananda that helped her to realize the depth of her passion for Ayurvedic Medicine. She has since completed the master’s degree program and internships at CCA and is now practicing as a CAS in the Ft Collins area. In clinical practice, Alissa uses yoga, meditation, and Jyotish (vedic astrology) as well as many other therapies, to teach people to become self-healers.

Sarada Erickson ERYT-500 MS RD Sarada has been leading yoga certifications for over 10 years. She has a great love of yoga and helping teachers develop their skills and authentic voice. Sarada is an Acharya in Shambhava Yoga. She will contribute towards asana, ayurvedic nutrition and cooking and other topics based upon her experience as a nutritionist, asana and meditation instructor, and yogini.

Advanced Asana Training

Curriculum:

  • Approaching and modifying advanced asanas including Scorpion, Lotus Headstand, advanced balance poses and binds
  • Advanced transitions
  • Assisting and adjusting advanced postures
  • Workshop-style teaching
  • Design an advanced yoga series to teach from upon completion of training
  • Meditation and philosophy topics vary by participant interest: deepening subtle body awareness, puja and mantra, history of Shambhava Yoga™, Zen philosophy and Kashmir Shaivism, etc.
  • Deepen your experience of Shambhava Yoga meditation

Ayurvedic Marma Point Training

Marma points are vital zones of life force in the human body. They are found at the key junctions of muscles, veins, arteries, tendons and bones. They can be stimulated to enhance the various essential physiological and emotional functions of the body. This training will focus on a number of key marmas and how to access them in yoga to deepen the healing impact of your practice.

Curriculum:

  • Intro to Marma points, the energy points of Ayurveda Marmas for the doshas, hands & feet, headache prevention and balancing digestion
  • Marma Yoga: incorporating marma points into your asana practice.
  • Intro to Abhyanga, Ayurvedic self-massage
  • Basic history, philosophy and key concepts of Ayurveda
  • Spend time with Ayurvedic practitioners and deepen your understanding of yourself through Ayurveda

Meditation Teacher Training Level One:

This training is appropriate for yoga teachers and meditators wishing to incorporate teaching meditation and deepen their personal experience.

Curriculum includes (not limited to):

  • What is meditation?
  • Foundational meditation practices including breath awareness, mantra repetition and surrender
  • Philosophy of the mind
  • Teaching skills for beginning level meditation
  • Daily teaching practica
  • Develop a 6-week beginning meditation course to teach from upon completing the training
  • Deepen your experience of meditation as practiced in Shambhava Yoga

Meditation Teacher Training Level Two:

This training is a continuation from the level one training including new topics to further deepen your Shambhava Yoga™ meditation teaching and personal practice.

Curriculum:

  • Expanding breath awareness
  • Pranayama and meditation techniques for subtle energy and the chakras
  • What is spiritual growth?
  • Witness consciousness
  • The physical, subtle and causal bodies
  • Teaching skills for continuing meditation students
  • Daily teaching practica
  • Develop a 6-week continuing meditation course to teach from upon completing the training
  • Deepen your experience of meditation as practiced in Shambhava Yoga
  • Prerequisite: Successful completion of Shambhava Yoga Meditation Teacher Training Level 1
